A Life Update for the New Year
I've been keeping a pretty big secret, and it's been killing me not to share! Honestly, I wanted to spill the beans on this life update months ago but there were a ton of moving pieces. So I decided to wait until they were all ironed out before officially announcing the news on here. I've said goodbye to corporate life! Well, kind of...

If you didn't know, Jordon and I moved back to Indiana in 2017 so that I could start working as a Social Media Strategist at a large sports venue here in the Indianapolis area. I genuinely LOVED my job. From the incredible people who became like family, to the fast-paced lifestyle and the thrilling opportunities...it was the BEST.
OKAY, so now flashback to 2015. I was working as a Press Secretary on Capital Hill, was in need of some creativity, and was encouraged by my then boss to start a blog because every time I posted about something I cooked or my house I got 70+ likes on Instagram. 😂Thus, Simply J and K was born. Exciting, Right?! Hah. I created an account on Wordpress (seriously wish I had a photo of the way the site looked back then), and dove right in to posting about our engagement, wedding, recipes and some random DIY projects I thought were exciting. Poor Jordon became my photographer (AND DESERVES A MAJOR THANK YOU), and this little side project began. That first year was all about blogging because it was fun for me. There was NO money in it, no sponsored content and honestly it was just a way for me to document my life. Eventually it grew and I started making a side-living (is that a thing?), off of my corner of the internet.
Let's move forward to 2018. J and I had been saving to buy a home for quite some time, and needed two steady, full-time jobs for boring adult things like loans and mortgages. But, that entire time we'd been saving we'd also been talking about our futures, our goals, and our career dreams. I've always had an overwhelming desire to be an entrepreneur. It's kind of in my DNA. (Thanks, mom and dad). But, when it came to being an entrepreneur or leaving a job I loved I just couldn't make a decision. I knew I loved blogging, but I also loved helping companies build their brand and develop social media strategies that helped them achieve their business goals. So, with some encouragement from my family, I decided to choose both.
This past Thanksgiving I made my dream a reality. I decided to take a chance on myself and Blog Full-Time. But, I also decided to follow my other dreams too. So, on top of blogging i've launched my own Social Media Consulting Company, where I'll be helping businesses I love craft digital strategies to further their brands. It's surreal to be at this point, but i'm thrilled to launch my own agency! It means I get to continue working in the corporate world with companies I love and focus on Simply J and K too.
That's it! My big life update (NO BABIES). haha I'm so excited to be able to take a chance on myself. And, I'm so grateful to all of the people who helped me turn this dream of mine into a reality. Including all of you that follow along with my life here. Seriously, THANK YOU.
It's definitely a new adventure, and for someone who really doesn't like change it's going to take some time to get used to. But telling you that i'm giddy with excitement would be an understatement! So, here's to conquering fears and taking a chance on me in 2019!
