How to Stay Productive at Work

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I would definitely be considered a perfectionist. My coworkers, past and present, have joked about how overly organized I am, but it’s that organization that keeps me going non-stop throughout the day. Although, I’ll admit having 3 different calendars may be overkill, ha!

We’ve all had those days at work where it feels impossible to get anything done. Those days where even though your to-do list is full, you just can’t seem to tear yourself away from catching up on celebrity gossip or taking a quiz on where you should travel to next. I’ve come up with 4 quick tips to help you stay productive:

  1. Look on the Bright side: I try to always be positive throughout the work day. I’ll admit that sometimes this can be really tough, especially when I’ve got a lot going on. But, I’ve found that if I can stay positive I’m more likely to keep working hard. I’d recommend trying to turn even the worst situations into something positive to help keep yourself productive.

  2. Stay Organized: I can’t tell you how much staying organized keeps me going at work. If if I see all the work that I have to accomplish that day I’m 10x more likely to kick it into high gear. Start your day by making a to-do list and don’t stop working until you can check off each item.

  3. Reward yourself: I like to give myself small breaks throughout the day to help me keep moving. After working for a few hours and checking off parts of your to-do list, take a 10 minute break to catch up with a co-worker, check your email or grab a coffee – it will help you get down to business later.

  4. Kick up your cardio: This may not work for everyone, but I’ve found that when I go to the gym in the morning instead of sleeping an extra hour I have so much more energy throughout the day. It’s refreshing to start your day on a high note and your body (and job) will thank you for it later!
