Florida: Our Quick Getaway in Sarasota
Hello friends, and happy Monday! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. J and I jetted off to Sarasota, Florida for a much needed getaway and apart from a few sunburns, we've had a blast.
Fun fact, I actually spent every summer from my childhood in Sarasota. As soon as school would let out we'd head out to the beach and stay for 2 or 3 months - it was heaven. While I can't have a full summer break now, J and I always try to escape to our family's home as often as we can. Sarasota is full of beautiful beaches, gorgeous buildings, a quaint little downtown and the most incredible weather. I really can't recommend it enough! I've rounded up a few of my favorite places to stay, best restaurants and of course the best things to do below. Enjoy!
Where To Stay
Aloft
ALoft Sarasota is a trendy spot located right in the heart of downtown Sarasota. It's urban, chic and is known for having an AMAZING coffee bar in the morning.
The Westin
New to town is the Westin, which has a STUNNING view of the marina and all of downtown. It's within walking distance to a ton of different restaurants and I've heard that the rooftop bar can't be beat.
What To Eat
Venezia
My favorite lunch spot in town is located at the Venezia. It's a family-owned italian eatery in the heart of the best shopping on the island. I highly recommend their calamari, and any of their salads. They're delicious!
Cafe Epicure
I'm very clearly a sucker for Italian food, so it's no surprise that Cafe Epicure tops my list of places to eat in Sarasota. I've been getting their prosciutto and melon and their Penne Sorrentina since I was about 10. I also highly recommend their gelato!
Shore
My love for Shore started with their clothing store, and grew to their restaurant. It's a blend of trendy cuisine with traditional favorites. They're known for having amazing cocktails, so be prepared to drink up!
What To Do
Beach
There are so many amazing beaches in Sarasota, by my favorite has always been Longboat Key. If you're looking for more of a party atmosphere, try hitting up Lido or Siesta beach!
Shopping on St. Armand's Circle
My mom and I always go shopping on St. Armand's when I'm in town - we love Shore, and all the small boutique stores that line the streets.
Farmer's Market
Downtown Sarasota is home to an amazing Farmer's Market every Saturday. There, you'll find fresh food, plants, music and so much more. I'd recommend grabbing a beach cruiser and making a morning of it!
