My Home Office Unveil
The second I decided to leave my full time job to consult, I knew I was going to have to take my home office to the next level. I had worked from home once before in a tiny, one-bedroom apartment where my dining room table doubled as a desk. Needless to say I HATED every moment of it, because I couldn't separate home from work. That life lesson made me realize just how important creating a home work space would be in our new home, which brings me to today's office unveil!
My space is at the front of our townhome, gets TONS of natural light and was designed to function as an office and reading space. It inspires me to plan projects, houses my camera gear and somehow also manages to match the modern Scandinavian decor in the rest of our house.
Truthfully, it has been 90% complete since our second month in our home. But, there was one nook behind my desk that just begged to become an accent wall. To be honest, I was stumped because I had NO idea what kind of accent I wanted. Shiplap? Tile? Wood? Wallpaper? I couldn't seem to narrow it down. Enter Murals Wallpaper. The wallpaper we added to our Master Bedroom was such a hit, that we perused their site again to see if there was a good print for our office.
I give HUGE props to my husband, Jordon, for finding this abstract face print. It lightens the space more than we ever realized! He originally picked out the black and white version, but I loved the blush hue.If wallpaper makes you nervous, check out this post where we shared our process for installing it. We had never done it previously, and figured it out in a minutes!
We accented the wallpaper with a white shelf, plants (of course), decorative mushrooms (who knew that was a thing?) and books. I also added plants to the front corner of the office behind my reading chairs to shield the grey walls. I love the pop of color they give to the space and the homey feeling that they bring.
High on my wishlist was a desk that looked sleek, but fit the feel of our house. Kittle's Furniture and our Designer Jessi never disappoint, and helped us find the PERFECT BDI Desk for our space. We also purchased the matching media console to hide my office printer, Alexa and files. It's super minimal, and is really easy to move around when I get the knack to inevitably redecorate!
Neutral and neat was the theme for this space. I feel SO lucky to have ended up where we are. I love that how the black, grey, white and blush compliment each other and feel so inviting. What's on your office wishlist?
XO,
K
